Last we spoke, we explained that we would be pretty inactive until the much anticipated FAssets launch on Songbird, when the bird would soar us all to a Valhalla of financial freedom!

Then Flare plucked those birdies out of flight like Elmer Fudd pumped from a breakfast of Red Bull and Hariboā€¦

Exciting times to experiance FAssets in action were drenched in the dissapointment that, not only would minting caps stifle activity, but FAssets would be removed entirely from Songbird in just a few short months.

Enosys showed some interest in taking on FAssets on Songbird while it was a hot topic.

However, in recent Xweets Thana from Enosys explained that FAssets are not in their plans for nowā€¦

So, What Now?!?!

Now, we waitā€¦

Once FAsset testing is completed on Songbird and the final version is operating on Flare then folk like Enosys can review the potential for ā€˜SAssetsā€™. 

It could well be that we end up with a tweaked version of FAssets for Songbird, potential tweaks could include (these are just our ideas, we have no inside knowledge!):

  • Less dependancy on stable coins: Maybe the system on Songbird utilises the origional plan of 2.5X SGB as collateral, eleviating the pressure on agents to source vast amounts of stables...

  • Self minting: Even if stables were part of the main system, maybe self minting would allow folk to choose their collateral options and their own risk tolerance. 

  • Collateral in the form of FAssets: Liquidity would not be fragmented if FAssets could be used as collateral for ā€˜SAssetsā€™, it would simply be another usecaseā€¦

Thereā€™s still plenty of potential for a massive amount of SGB to be utilised in ā€˜SAssetsā€™. Right now all we can do is sit tight and watch things play out on Flareā€¦

Minting caps are going to be the hot topic until they are lifted.

Whenever Flare release updates we will dissect and present them to youā€¦

The updates from Flare are always ā€˜soonā€™ which tends to mean 6 to 12 weeks of waiting, painfully slow but always heading in the right direction.

Our upcoming features will cover what impact the XRP staking proposal could have on Flare, we will draw on comparisons to Eigenlayer (Ethereum) and Babylon (Bitcoin).

Also, with the much anticipated Flare 2.0 thesis currently being written by Hugo we are focused on researching AI developments too.
