Yesterday’s email kicked this logic right in the crotch leaving Jim and the twins in need of a nursing.

Are Ledger Cold Wallets Still Safe?

Ledger don’t exactly have a clean history of keeping user data secure, a few years back Ledger’s customer database was hacked and shared across the internet.

We still have the hacked file where we found our own data. Names, addresses and other KYC data ledger held.

But that was ages ago right? Why should you care now?

Ledger just released an opt in feature to recover your private keys called Ledger Recover.

Recover basically shards your private keys and stores them with three separate custodians.

This allows customers to recover their private keys should they ever be lost.

Sounds good until we consider that their new firmware update requires access to your private keys and the ability to share them with third parties, if this is a vulnerable update the hackers will have a field day.
